K12 Inc. (NYSE Arca: LRN). Thirty-two of the nation's best and brightest online school teachers gathered this week at the K12 headquarters in Herndon, VA, to receive the first annual K12 Founder's Award. This award recognizes teachers for their hard work and dedication, and for exemplifying the K12 values of innovation, integrity, aggressive achievement, courage, and a passion for helping students unleash their xPotential.

The teachers honored this week were chosen from among more than 1,200 educators across the U.S. who teach at online public schools that use the K12 program. They represent the first group to be inducted into the K12 Founder's Club -- a prestigious group of teachers who epitomize excellence and quality in online education.

The group is also participating in the first annual K12 Founder's Club Summit. This three-day summit includes an awards banquet, special guest speakers, and work sessions that give teachers an opportunity to collaborate with the K12 team on ways to continue fostering academic excellence, school community, and leadership.

At the awards dinner on Monday, K12 Founder and CEO Ron Packard praised the teachers for their commitment to educating children.

"It is a great honor for me to present this award to all of you and welcome you into the K12 Founder's Club as the inaugural class," said Packard. "You make a difference every day by providing your students the individual attention, instruction, and encouragement they need to achieve success. Thank you for your service to kids and your passion for education. You are an inspiration to all of us at K12."

Each year, a select group of teachers will be inducted into the K12 Founder's Club. Members will meet at an annual summit to share experiences and ideas, and formulate best practices of online instruction and student academic achievement. Founder's Club members will also serve as national ambassadors for quality online learning and the effectiveness of the K12 academic program, and act as mentors to new online school teachers.

Working remotely, state-licensed teachers in K12 online public schools provide instruction, guidance, and support to their students and families. They assign lessons; develop individualized academic programs; oversee and assess student progress; provide instruction through real-time and interactive Web-based "e-classrooms;" organize school outings, clubs and activities; and much more.
