HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2008--K12 Inc. (NYSE:LRN)
announced that its private school - K12 International Academy - has
been granted accreditation by the Commission on International and
Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). CITA accreditation indicates that
the K12 International Academy meets or exceeds essential standards of
education quality.
CITA accreditation is granted to an educational institution upon
successful completion of a lengthy evaluation process, which includes
a self-study and an on-site evaluation. Following the self-study, a
team of experienced educators evaluates the school to verify that it
meets the quality standards.
CITA is an accrediting authority both in the United States and
throughout the world. It is responsible for evaluating and accrediting
more than 32,000 schools in 100 countries covering over 17 million
students.
The CITA accreditation also fulfills the requirements of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on
Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). Accordingly, the K12
International Academy was also granted accreditation by SACS CASI.
Accreditation provides reciprocity of credits, courses, and
grade-level placements between schools and universities around the
world, and validation of the equivalency of diplomas and certificates
to other accredited schools and universities.
The K12 International Academy is a private, diploma-granting
online school serving students in the U.S. and around the world in
grades K-12. The school's mission is to create a global community of
students, teachers, parents, and mentors that is connected by
technology and dedicated to developing the unique character and
intellect of each student, thereby laying the foundation for his or
her success in life. More information on the school can be found at
