The company is sponsoring seven full-day events in five different states for administrative, curriculum and technology leaders to learn how to successfully implement online learning programs.  K12 school districts are hosting these symposiums to share their best practices for developing high performing online programs.  Educators from Idaho, Colorado, Arizona, California and Washington will discuss the successes and challenges of implementing blended, supplemental and full-time online learning programs

In addition, K12 is pleased to recognize four school districts for transforming education through innovative online programs.  The following Transformation Award winners reported successful outcomes for their students and districts:

Washington County School District (Utah) Transforming Education Through Innovative Engagement

The Washington Online School implemented a full time, online school program using the K12®and Aventa Learning® by K12curricula and emphasizing teacher engagement for more than 1,000 statewide K-8 students. As a result, state test scores for 95 percent of Washington Online students increased over 10 percent this past year, including a 29 percent increase in year-end Algebra scores.

Falcon School District 49 (Colorado) Pursuit of Innovative Education for All Students

Falcon implemented several programs using both K12and Aventa Learning throughout their district including the full time, online Falcon Virtual Academy, which has grown from 59 students in 2010 to 339 students in 2011.  Falcon Virtual Academy uses K12 for its Response to Intervention (RTI) program that services 100 percent of its students.  The RTI approach enabled Falcon to achieve AYP in Elementary and High School this past year.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (Tennessee) – Transforming Education Through Tailoring Programs for At-Risk Students

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has achieved tremendous results educating a student population with high poverty (over 45 percent) and mobility rates (some schools have experienced 70-75 percent annual turnover).  Using the A+ Learning System® by K12curriculum to implement a range of online learning programs that target the unique needs of at-risk populations, the district-wide graduation rate increased from 76 percent to 93.5 percent over the last five years.  Further, the district-wide dropout rate decreased from 11 percent to 0.5 percent over the same period.

Hillsborough County School District (Florida) Transforming Education by Removing Barriers to Quality Online Education

Hillsborough County School District understood the benefits of offering online education options to help educate a diverse student body throughout the district.  Using Aventa Learning curriculum, it offered credit recovery programs to all students, including those who had already dropped out of school, as a way to help them earn a high school certificate.   Hillsborough teachers are now supporting more than 12,000 online course enrollments for high school students.

K12 provides online curriculum and support for more than 2,000 school districts in all 50 states. Over the past decade, K12has delivered over 4 million online courses from its extensive portfolio, including full-time online programs, credit recovery, core courses, world languages, AP and high school electives.
