MESICK, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2018-- Students and teachers at Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan (HVAM) will start the 2018-2019 school year on September 4, simply by turning on their computers. A full-time, online public charter school authorized by Mesick Consolidated Schools, HVAM provides a tuition-free public education option for students in grades K-10 across the state.

“At HVAM, we offer Michigan families a unique opportunity to attend public school from home,” said Head of School Mary Moorman. “Whether a student enrolls because they are an advanced learner, are looking for a safer learning environment, or have a variety of medical or other needs, our online platform and inspired teachers offer students a learning experience that is right for them.”

Combining innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum led by Michigan-licensed teachers, HVAM provides each student with a personalized learning experience. Students take a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history, art, music and physical education/health. As the school grows its offerings to 10th grade this academic year, high school students are offered a host of electives, world languages and Advanced Placement® courses to prepare for the future.

HVAM’s teachers facilitate lessons during live, interactive online classes, allowing students to enjoy a safe learning environment. In addition to scheduled classes, teachers offer one-on-one instruction and support, online chat sessions and phone calls to build close partnerships in support of students’ academic success.

Throughout the year, HVAM builds a sense of community through in-person field trips, community service opportunities and social outings. Virtual clubs and organizations also allow students to further explore shared interests together in the online setting.

HVAM is still accepting enrollment applications for the 2018-2019 school year. Families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school.
