Online Public Charter Schools Specialize in Addressing Needs of Struggling Students

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2018-- High school students who have struggled to find success in a traditional brick-and-mortar school setting are invited to take advantage of tuition-free public school options at Insight Schools of California (ISCA) to get back on track. The full-time online public charter schools are now accepting enrollment applications for the 2018-19 school year.

ISCA serves students in grades 9-12 who reside in many counties in California, including Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura.

“At Insight Schools of California, our goal is to unlock every student’s potential by addressing each of their real-life needs and inspiring them to succeed,” said ISCA head of school Kimberly Odom. “We offer targeted support for struggling students, meeting them where they are and helping them reach their goals.

The experienced California-credentialed teachers and professional school counselors at ISCA assess where students are academically deficient, then work closely with them and their parents to create individualized learning plans that map to each student’s unique academic needs, personal interests and college and career goals.

In addition to the academic focus, ISCA also offers a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, which helps students increase their self-confidence and interpersonal skills. During the school year, students will meet twice a week in online advisory sessions to discuss topics that are relevant to their lives. The goal is to build confidence, create a sense of belonging and equip students with skills to make responsible decisions.

Students can also take advantage of ISCA’s quarter-system model. The program enables students to concentrate on just three courses each quarter (typically a nine-week period) and often helps students get back on track to graduate from high school on time.

Families are invited to learn more and meet current families and staff at an upcoming event. For more information and to see a complete list of in-person and online information sessions, please visit http://ca.insightschools.net.
