Have You Seen Junior’s Grades? Updated K12 App Helps Parents Better Track Their Child’s Success and Improves Access to the Online School Experience

February 12, 2019

HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2019-- K12 Inc. (NYSE:LRN), a technology-based education company and leading provider of K-12 online curriculum, school programs, and one-to-one learning solutions, is breaking new ground in bridging the gap between parents and information about their children’s education.

According to Pew Research, 77 percent of Americans own a smart phone. And more than 65 percent of parents surveyed by Public Agenda wish they could be more actively involved in their child’s education.

To take advantage of smart phone usage and meet parents’ need for more information, K12 has updated its mobile app with new features that give parents better access to students’ grades, course progress, homework, and class assignments. The app will continue to serve as a connection point for families and school staff, as parents will still be able to contact teachers or school administrators with just the touch of a button on their mobile devices.

“This technology makes it easier for K12-powered families to be directly involved with their child’s education, and serves our ongoing commitment to provide them with the real-time information they’re looking for,” said Doug McCollum, senior vice president of product development at K12 Inc. “The app empowers families to be true partners in their children’s education, offering access to valuable information, and providing a touchpoint with the school.”

Originally launched in 2018 to help families enroll in K12-powered online schools, the updated app can still be used by parents to familiarize themselves with the overall online learning environment.

The enhanced K12 mobile app is available for free on iOS and Android devices. To learn more visit www.k12.com/app.
